Description
This single-handed double-edged sword has a forge welded blade. The blade is constructed with an edge of Steel and a core of Vintage church bell clapper wrought iron. The sword gets its name from this River of iron in the core. This steel edge and iron core is one interpretation of the Viking and Saxon method of combining a soft sword centre and a hard edge.
The guard and pommel are based on the guard and pommel from a late Saxon Ingelrii sword in the British museum that I measured some years ago. The pommel and guard are cast in Bronze and have been aged to look like the original sword looks like now as a 1000-year-old relic. The handle has a leather wrap over ash.
The sword is a hefty period Spatha, the point of balance is 6” into the blade and would be a powerful cutting sword.
I would be happy to make a sheath for this sword, please enquire for a price.
