Due to the previous success and popularity of this course I will be running it again from Monday 2nd August - Sunday 8th August 2010
Have you always wanted to make your own sword? Well, here is your chance.
The aim of this course is to forge out your own sword in seven days.
I will take you through the process of:
- Forging the blade to shape
- Grinding and shaping the blade
- Hardening and tempering the blade
- Sharpening and edge testing
- Fitting a cross guard, handle and pommel
We will be making double-edged sword blades and basic cross guards and pommels. There may be the opportunity for you to forge other blade styles (depending on your ability).
These will be real "sharp swords" and we will have a chance to use them against Tatami mats and hanging rope to test the blades .
The course will be conducted using basic hand tools and hammer and anvil and fire (there will be powered grinders at hand if you want to speed the process along).
This will be an intensive 7 day course. No previous forging experience is needed. You will however need determination, and experience in using hand tools will be helpful.
The course will be held from Monday to Sunday 9am to 5pm (Sunday will finish at 4.30pm). Max 6 students
Course Price: £650
Course dates: 2nd to 8th August 2010
21st to 27th March 2011
